John Durkin was a firefighter for 17 years before injury led to PTSD and the end of his career. He then pursued a psychology degree before gaining a Masters degree in Psychological Research Methods and undertaking research into resilience to stress in the UK fire and rescue service at the University of East London. John is accredited by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation as a trainer of Critical Incident Stress Management and heads FireStress Solutions, a research, training and consultancy firm specializing in the resolution of stress and psychological trauma in the fire and rescue services.
