Critical Incident Debriefing with Children

Children process traumas and disasters differently than adults and need a method of debriefing that is more than just talking about the incident. This workshop will address developmental needs and practical methods for debriefing children.

Goals:

1. Participants will be able to identify children's reactions to trauma based on developmental ages/stages.

2. Participants will learn a model of CISD with children using art and play.

Methods:

1. Material will be covered in lecture and demonstration format

2. Participants will practice CISD in small groups under supervision.
